How to Save TikTok Videos Before Deleting Your Account

Short answer: For your best/most important videos, copy each link and download the clean HD file using our tool. For bulk backup, use TikTok's "Download My Data" request (slow, watermarked). Do this BEFORE hitting delete.
Pre-Deletion Checklist

Method 1: Download Your Best Videos One by One (Recommended)
This is the only way to get clean, watermark-free HD files that you can repost anywhere. Best for creators with 10-50 videos they actually want to keep.
- Open your TikTok profile, go to your videos tab
- Open each video you want to save, tap Share → Copy Link
- Go to VideoDownloaderAI
- Paste the link, select 1024p HD, download
- Organize files in folders by date or theme
Pro tip: Prioritize your viral videos (1M+ views), brand deals, and personal favorites. You probably don't need to save every random 200-view video.
Method 2: TikTok's Official "Download My Data" (Bulk, But Watermarked)
TikTok allows you to request a copy of all your data. This includes your videos, but they come with watermarks and can take up to 4 days to prepare.
- Go to TikTok app → Profile → Menu (☰) → Settings and privacy
- Tap Account → Download your data
- Select Request data
- Choose JSON format (more complete) or TXT
- Wait for TikTok to email you (usually 1-4 days)
- Download the ZIP file containing your data
⚠️ Limitations: Videos in the data export include TikTok watermarks. Profile data is incomplete. You cannot selectively download — it's all or nothing. And it takes days.
Method 3: Screen Recording (Last Resort)
If you have private videos that can't be accessed via link (e.g., drafts or friends-only posts), screen recording is your only option.
iPhone
Settings → Control Center → Add Screen Recording. Swipe down, tap record icon. Stop via status bar.
Android
Swipe down twice → Screen Record. Some brands (Samsung, Xiaomi) have this in quick settings.
⚠️ Screen recordings include UI elements (buttons, captions) and are limited to screen resolution. Not recommended for archival quality.
What Happens After You Delete?
Day 0: Deactivation
Your profile becomes invisible. Others can't find your videos. You can still log back in within 30 days to reactivate.
Day 30: Permanent Deletion
All videos, comments, likes, and messages are permanently erased from TikTok's servers. No recovery possible.
Shared Content
If others downloaded or screen-recorded your videos, those copies remain on their devices. You cannot control this.
Can You Recover a Deleted Account?
Yes — but only within 30 days. If you log back into TikTok within 30 days of deletion, your account is fully restored with all content intact.
After 30 days, no. TikTok states that deleted accounts are permanently removed from their systems. Even their support team cannot restore them.
Organizing Your Backup Files
Don't just dump everything in Downloads. Create a structure that makes sense in 5 years:
